A difficult game to report on really in light of the opposition.
Towsey carried on where he left off last season, the new improved Hickers played some nice shots for his 53 (got out to a silly one though!!!), and generally all round sound batting, including picking up quick singles which would have been missed the previous year, to finish on 250, on a fast drying wicket.
The bowling got off to a shaky start but it is still early and with hard work and a few more games will be put right (and getting used to a new run up!!) However we kept plugging away and once the openers were removed there was nothing much else to come. Everyone chipped in, the fielding much improved, but still can be better, the catching good where required (sorry skip!)
On our wicket if a team has half decent batsmen it will be very hard to get them out if they've set their mind to block out.
Even all the old/ex SPCC players watching around the ground said how good it was to see us buzzing, how much more determined we seemed and how much more professional we went about things. No doubt we must have improved.
Like I said, it is still early but the signs are looking very good, lets keep the hard work going.
