A potential banana skin avoided here. (No slip ups then – Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha that just cost me a £1 I bet)

After eventually being let in to the changing rooms at 12.45, I’m not sure if we actually won the toss or if they conceded it as the umpire hadn’t turned up by 1.15, but anyway we batted.
The South African overseas looked quite useful and would have been more of a handful bowling the other end, you know the end where it either spat at you or kept low or just dusted you up, the guy bowling at that end will quite easily fit in to our A.T.C XI. (An interesting wicket and hard, fast and very bumpy outfield – It actually made Walmer's pitch look….I can’t bring myself to say it!)
So we lost the top 3, including AA, for about 50 odd off 17 overs, which was starting to ring a few alarm bells, Towsey batted very well with Wrenny before suicide took place and Wrenny ran himself out, which brought Hickers to the wicket who proceeded to put the ball anywhere virtually he liked, on the ground with proper shots before you ask. All credit to him and his huge progress made this season so far with his batting. Towse carried on working round him and at 140 odd for 5 at 40 overs, our eventual score of 234 was indeed a bonus, credit going to the whole team as Farningham clearly thought they were on a winner after the first 5. (I actually scored 14 except the umpire gave one of my fours as byes, however should the keeper have taken it, I clearly did not hit it!)
In the heat of the early evening (and it was still stinking hot) Dom continued where he had left off previously and bowled superbly keeping it tight and deserving his two wickets. I kept it tightish and got my one (that should have been two later on but we won’t go in to that) before that big bloke who flew back from Singapore the night before, obviously jet lagged, smashed me for 20 in what was to be my last over. Ironically it was also his last full over as Bear cleaned him up two balls later and then went on like he does to bowl superbly tight and pick up the wickets on the way getting another 4 fer with his spin twin the other end AA picking up his 2. Heathy bowled his 4 overs for just 5 runs and also Lawsie picked up a wicket in his 5 overs, these boys deserve a lot of credit also as they are very important to our team and are vital in our bowling attack whether it be back up or main strike they can adapt to the situation and have worked hard in the field all season so far.
The only batsman likely to score runs was the big guy that smashed it and the young lad at 6 who apparently had hardly scored a run all year.
Despite keeping up with the run rate they finally caved in on the 41st over for 183, mainly due to the fact we were looking to take wickets. You have to say the batting was quite poor.
So we win again, the third 20 pointer in a row, back to square one next week where we entertain Mr Lightfoot and his boys, another game for the taking, keep working at it, keep going even if you’re not scoring runs or bowling, you are part of a team, our team, our club. Here’s to the next win.
