A game in which the opposition should never have been in
it. It was indeed the Andy Allon show, with 86 runs, 3 important wickets
and a run out. Others did get starts to their innings but did not follow
it through as it is at this stage of the season where good sides batsmen
should be starting to produce 40’s and 50’s consistently with
higher scores thrown in. A good knock by Martin Wren and some big hitting
by Dom pulled it round for us a bit, but 223 was a very poor score against
one of the supposed poorer sides in the league and even more importantly
on our wicket. A complacent attitude was at the forefront, may be too
many people read Hartley Boy’s posting in the forum and acted on
it. The lesson for this week:
Catches really do win matches (This one nearly slipped, quite literally,
through our fingers), complacency comes at a cost, keep your mouth shut-concentrate
on your game-get on with the game, always respect the decision of the
officials whether right or wrong its their time too!
