League position 4th

A game in which the opposition should never have been in it. It was indeed the Andy Allon show, with 86 runs, 3 important wickets and a run out. Others did get starts to their innings but did not follow it through as it is at this stage of the season where good sides batsmen should be starting to produce 40’s and 50’s consistently with higher scores thrown in. A good knock by Martin Wren and some big hitting by Dom pulled it round for us a bit, but 223 was a very poor score against one of the supposed poorer sides in the league and even more importantly on our wicket. A complacent attitude was at the forefront, may be too many people read Hartley Boy’s posting in the forum and acted on it.
The bowling was average with one of our old bad habits creeping back in, the one of the 1 or 2 four balls an over and another in our fielding, dropped catches and bad attitude in the field. We must try and be professional every week and be more consistent as we will come seriously unstuck against the better side, many of which are coming up in the next few matches.
As too ‘the incident’ I’m afraid you’ll have to be disappointed as it was a storm in a tea cup, very childish (he said that, no you said that, I’m telling teacher!) but there was nothing to be worried about. You must look forward and learn as you go.
All in all we won comfortably in the end and that’s all that matters, lets get really stuck in to the up and coming games, take each game as it comes and not take too much notice of where we are in the league till we’ve beaten everyone and finish in the promotion spots.

The lesson for this week: Catches really do win matches (This one nearly slipped, quite literally, through our fingers), complacency comes at a cost, keep your mouth shut-concentrate on your game-get on with the game, always respect the decision of the officials whether right or wrong its their time too!
