How can one put it, what a bugger, putting it politely.

A very unusual game really the wicket was ok and outfield a bit lumpy but ok, it was just very wet still. Their skipper won the toss and decided to bowl so he was obviously going for it!!!

We batted well against an average bowling attack, Hobo showed again he his versatility by being able to bat anywhere and showing his classy shot play to make runs, Pards batted very well again for his 41, it was good to see him back as his old self. Everyone else chipped in nicely with 20’s and 30’s showing once again we are a very able team through and through, Hickers, Skip and Martin, bashing, smashing and crashing where applicable, good to see we are able to push on when required. Finishing on 222 was a good score on a difficult wicket as the ball held back on it. (I think it was my 200% strike rate that did it!)

Chestfields reply was strange, whilst we did bowl tight again at the beginning and two very difficult chances were put down, there were a few flailed fours but they didn’t exactly go after us either. Heathy once again bowled superbly and disposed of Dan Patching as he tried to go for it and Skip got rid of the other mush who made a very painful 11. After that they seemed not very bothered and played carefully with few loose shots, then in about the 40th over on about 115, decided to go for it. Obviously they did have some success but lost 3 wickets to yours truly and then they decided to settle for the 150 instead cheering and clapping each single up to and just after the 150 for some strange reason.

They finished on a poor 153. Winning the toss, deciding to bowl first, then virtually block out for the draw, hmmmmm interesting captaincy, or am I just an old cynic?

Hayes now top, all credit to them they did what the had to do sounded like a good game, but unfortunately the much loved BOCA (pretty much all clubs apart from us having something to say about them) also got 20 points. 2 point behind Hayes, 6 required for promotion, it would be great to win this league, we have not lost a game or even a losing draw, it doesn’t matter till after what the others do, lets get as many points if not maximum and finish this season in style as we have done all season (apart from Hayes). If that’s not an incentive for you……….
