Complancency - cost us a big score and them any chance of victory. Smudger: Another solid performance but
still need to improve. Although the batting was pretty solid, the middle
order collapsed and I thought surrendered their precious wicket too easily.
The people that did get starts also started to play rash shots where not
entirely necessary and I think the next few weeks with important players
missing will be a good test of our resolve. Bear: we did specify, if it is not in the Herald severe finacial penalty. When we batted and had a great platform it was as if we
thought that "two spinners on, Bear will do what he did last week,
oh well Hobbo is a good player, he'll run it around and see us to 250
now". The best people to achieve the big score are the two in the
middle. It shows that when we get big scores usually it involves someone
getting a big score (80 plus) and the rest of the team playing around
them. Saying that we batted well with all the top six getting a t least
25 in either of the first two games - a result of practice. Fielding was good for the most part, but in the 100 overs
that we have fielded so far this year we have been good for about 40 or
50. That is not to say we fielded badly for the other overs more a reflection
on our effort and attitude. There is a real buzz about the early overs,
but we need to keep it up for 50, esoecially in tight games and when setting
a total.
